We did a fun exercise in my PR class today that showed the importance of punctuation. A letter was given to us without any punctuation or grammar. Half the class had to turn it into a love letter and the other half had to turn it into a hate letter. Here is the letter the exact way it was given to us:

Dear Tom I want a man who knows what love is all about you are generous kind thoughtful people who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior you have ruined me for other men I yearn for you I have no feelings whatsoever when we’re apart I can forever be happy will you let me be yours Sheila

I had to turn the letter into a love letter, and this is what I came up with:

Dear Tom, I want a man who knows what love is all about! You are generous, kind, thoughtful. People who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me for other men. I yearn for you! I have no feelings whatsoever when we’re apart. I can forever be happy! Will you let me be yours? Sheila

Can you turn it into a hate letter?? Give it a try!
